BANGALORE, INDIA: Swiss cabling specialist R&M has developed a new subfloor cabling solution for data centres, R&M Floor/Consolidation Box.
The box serves as an intermediate distributor in double floors in zone distribution andstorage areas. The R&M Floor/Consolidation box solution consists of a steel box that is inserted into a 600 x 600 millimeter grid of raised floors.
Gaurav Ahluwalia, MD, R&M India, said: "The new floor/consolidation box solution is developed keeping in mind the requirement of new age data centres. This platform enables increased productivity of the data centre. The significance of this platform is that the surface area of the data centre need not be increased."
The company claims that it reduces patch panels in the racks or cabinets, freeing up space there for active components and can help in increasing equipment density in computer rooms and build networks using 10 Gigabit Ethernet and 40/100 Gigabit Ethernet.
The company adds that as many as 288 fiber-optic or copper cable terminations can fit into one unit and this is also suitable for combining two media.
R&M markets 19" patch panels from its own range of data centre products for configuration. Up to six patch panels can be incorporated in the raised floor solution.
