Simmtronics Plans To Triple Via Motherboard Share

With an aim to triple the market share of the newly launched Simmtronics-Via motherboards in India, Simmtronics has embarked on an aggressive marketing plan.

As an exclusive assembler and distributor of Via pc-1 motherboards, Simmtronics is looking at volume sales in the country.

“The market share of Via motherboards is currently five percent to seven percent. We will increase that to 20 percent in the next one year,” said Indrajit Sabharwal, Managing Director, Simmtronics Semiconductors. “We are looking at volumes. Co-branded as Simmtronics-Via motherboard, this entry level motherboard has a CPU on board, and is priced at Rs. 3,000. It can be used for low cost computing. In fact, we are planning to deliver low cost PCs by using this motherboard.”

Globally, the company has already launched its low cost Simmtronics PCs priced at $199. A similar announcement in India is expected soon.

The company will target thin clients (a segment that it is strong in) and the banking segments with the new product.

“We are conducting 18 channel road shows, where we will train the partners on the new product and the technology,” said Sabharwal.

Simmtronics plans to launch more products in the next quarters and is working with its regional distributors and 3,000 resellers. Some of the regional distributors are Data Care Corporation in Pune, Shani Peripherals in Gujarat and Dalani in East.
