As Hewlett Packard’s new CEO Leo Apotheker is reworking the company’s status, five new directors including former eBay chief Meg Whitman will join the board.
According to sources, the company had received flak for the controversial ouster of CEO Mark Hurd where industry leaders and shareholders had shown disappointment in the leadership of HP.
The company with the arrival of the new heads will see a whiff of fresh air in the company’s expertise, experience and quality of work, sources added.
In addition to Whitman, HP named as directors Shumeet Banerji, CEO of Booz & Co; Gary Reiner, former chief information officer of General Electric Co; Patricia Russo, former CEO of Alcatel-Lucent; and Dominique Senequier, CEO of AXA Private Equity.
The four directors are leaving voluntarily, sources said. Hyatt and Joyce were directors since 2007, Ryan since 2004, and Salhany since 2002. The HP board will be left with 13 members after this change.
