Cyberoam Plans Sub-$200 UTM Device

Cyberoam is planning to launch a sub-$200 UTM device targeted at the SOHO and small businesses with less than 10 nodes.

Said Hemal Patel, MD & CEO, Elitecore, “SMB has been our forte. Having garnered significant market share in this space, we believe we can further expand the market now by targeting small offices having less than 10 users. We are currently beta-testing a product developed by our R&D center in Ahmedabad for the SOHO segment. This product, priced under $200, will revolutionize the UTM appliance space.”

According to Tushar Sighat, Vice President, Operations, Cyberoam, “Our R&D center in Bangalore is also preparing for the launch of several new enterprise UTM products. Having tasted success in the enterprise segment, we will continue to add more features to our products in keeping with customer requirements. You will see us launching a range of enterprise products with features that our competitors don’t have.”

Patel claimed that in the last two years Cyberoam has spent more than six percent of its topline in developing enterprise and SOHO products, which in percentage terms is more than what Fortinet or SonicWall spend.

These initiatives come at a time when Cyberoam has been gaining significant market share. Recently the company toppled Fortinet as the number 1 UTM appliance vendor in India, as per IDC Q3 2010 findings.

The other big investment Cyberoam has decided to make is to move its assembly line for India from Taiwan to Ahmedabad. “This will make us more efficient in terms of time-to- market and also in terms of managing logistics and pricing. We have taken up space at the upcoming IT Park in Ahmedabad,” informed Patel.
