Su-Kam Inverters Arrive To Support Bumbuna

In collaboration with T. Choithrams Supermarket (TCS), the nation’s largest supermarket, Su-Kam, India’s biggest power back-up company, has began operations in Sierra Leone with the sale of its numerous products in the country.
The company was officially launched at the Mamba Point Restaurant at Wilberforce on Wednesday by officials of Su-Kam and Choithrams during a ceremony attended by representatives of various institutions including private and public sector.
In his welcome address at the occasion, Harish Agnani, the Managing Director of the Choithrams Charity Trust in Sierra Leone, said he was more than elated to welcome Su-Kam to Sierra Leone especially now that Bumbuna has been commissioned and people would want to secure their sensitive electrical appliances from irregular power supplies.
He said Su-Kam, being a company that is very well known in India and other parts of the world for its innovative productions, will be a welcome addition to the completion of the first phase of the Bumbuna project as it will compliment the efforts of the national power supply to provide adequate electrical power to residents and businesses of the city and other parts of the country.
Jai Arora, an executive of Su-Kam, who was present at the launch, made a video presentation of the origins and operations of the company during which it was noted that the company’s primary operations involve the production of Power Protection Systems (PPS), which safeguard appliances from disturbances such as over-voltage, under-voltage, surges, spikes and frequency variations.
“Whenever there is power failure or disturbance in the supply, the PPS disconnects the equipment from the input power supply and when the power resumes or becomes stable, it recommends the equipment to the grid supply. It also provides a specified “Time Delay” in order to avoid immediate restarting of the equipment,” explained the Su-Kam executive.
He added that the systems also have a micro-controller that does not only monitor the quality of grid power but also controls the entire PPS operations.
Direct power from the mains is a constant threat to sensitive electronic equipment as it is constantly subjected to interruptions that can seriously affect the performance of sensitive equipments, he stated.
However, he noted that the company works to ensure that these problems go away permanently, through the provision of various kinds of protection systems depending on the requirements of the user.
Mr. Arora said the motto of the company, ‘Powered by Innovation’ is infact a dream at Su-Kam, as they always seek to provide innovative solutions to the problem of power supply from national suppliers.
Among the products are Inverters/Chargers that convert AC-DC and DC-AC depending on the requirements of the user; Digital Home UPS, which can be used with air conditioners, refrigerators, DVD, audio players, mobile chargers, personal computers, printers, modem, security systems, fax machines, POS (Point of Sale) terminals and telecommunications equipments; Solar Sine Wave Inverters for the conversion of DC-AC for use with solar panels; Pure Sine Wave UPS systems for 100% pure power that runs all appliances at home; and True Online UPS systems that can be used on IT/ITES, textile industries, telecommunications, manufacturing, data centres, banking, finance, services and insurance.
The company is considered a Super Brand in India and has won a number of awards including Best Inverter in West Africa 2009 by consumers in Nigeria.
It is also globally certified by the European Union and the Government of India Ministry of Science and Technology.
