Luminous Focuses on Enhanced Penetration of Distribution Network







UPS is an ever growing industry though fragmented. The players are vying each other to introduce the latest technology. Luminous is one among them. As per them, they have strong hold in household segment, and have grown by over 50% uniformly across all the segments including households.

The consumption of UPS for Luminous in last year was very good. According to Sunil Bhalla, Director, Luminous Power Technologies, “The consumption has definitely grown in absolute unit terms however not very sizably due to various reasons. Last year was an average year with a repetition of year 2008-09, where UPS market was buoyant in H-1 and took a dip in H-2. The major growth in sales for the companies is coming out of online segment which anyways holds the major chunk in the Overall UPS sales.”

In India, the market size of overall UPS market is estimated to be Rs. 2100 crores segmented into Line Interactive and Online UPS. With the summer season around the corner there will be a surge in the sales. “The major growth segments will be Government and education sector. Corporates will also be playing key role in the growth of the UPS segment. Growth in the home segment will be coming from C and D class cities. There is lot of growth opportunities still there for serious players in the market place. By fine tuning our strategies and bringing in efficiencies into the system much can be achieved,” Mr Bhalla added.

Service is one of the strong points to capture more market share and Luminous is giving prime importance to this field. Mr Bhalla told, Luminous has an excellent network of service centres all across India to extend best of services to our partners. We have Luminous True Service nos. 1860 500 3939, 1800 11 3535 and 011-455500700 which can be used by the customers and partners to log in their complaints. We have direct to customer service delivery network in over 150 locations across India which will grow to over 200 locations in the first half of next financial year.” 

With the intensity of summer, the demand for UPSs will also increase. To capture more market share during this summer season, Luminous will be focusing on enhanced penetration of distribution network. Besides, they will have a strong focus on enhancement in an already-strong consumer branding.

As the innovation is the key word, Luminous is also concentrating on introducing cutting edge technology to the consumers. “As new technology, Solar UPS can be something really interesting to see as a product of future. Others can not be declared at this stage as they are of strategic importance to business plans,” Mr Bhalla signs off.
