Reporting its numbers for the very first quarter after spin off, the unit has stood profitable and has declared the soaring numbers for Smartphones shipments. It is being suggested that company has shipped almost double of the Smartphones that it did in entire 2009.
Though numbers are promising undoubtedly but the heated competition took a toll. Motorola Mobility segment is expecting a net loss of $26 million to $62 million for the current quarter. However, as per the financial figures the unit has posted net income of $80 million compared against losses of $204 million, last year. The units shipped were around 4.9 million against 2.0 million shipped in 2009.
The company has moved its focus purely to Android operating systems against the past strategy of running on variety of OSes. The company is upbeat with its new Android and Droid Smartphones, Xoom tablet and a new arrival, Atrix.
