Spelling out the strategy for its newly launched printer business, Sanjay Yadav, Country Head, Retail, Dell India, said, “The addition of printers to our portfolio, and the fact they will primarily be available through the channel, will add significant value to our partners’ business. Our channel focus is based on the premise of making technology more accessible to customers. This will increase the ability of our partners to offer total solutions to their customers.”
Vishal Tripathi, Principal Analyst, Gartner India believes that Dell has the capacity to give printer OEMs tough competition in targeted segment. “The timing of Dell's printers launch is apt. They have already gained the No 1 spot in the PC market, and have the momentum going for them,” he opined.
Dell is known to have an OEM agreement with Lexmark for manufacturing its branded printers and aftermarket supplies.
