McAfee and Riverbed, Expanding their squares to deliver Integrated Security and WAN Optimization

McAfee, Inc. and Riverbed Technology, an IT performance company, announced their ongoing partnership for delivering Web 2.0 security capabilities on the Riverbed Services Platform (RSP). This partnership shows the two tech giants commitment to deliver best comprehensive security along with wide area network (WAN) optimization solutions for enterprises.
The RSP is a virtualized, extensible data services platform integrated with the Steelhead appliance hardware that allows customers to deploy multiple best-of-breed edge services that formerly required dedicated servers.  Customers can deploy virtualized applications, such as McAfee Web Gateway Security, directly on the RSP to further minimize the hardware infrastructure footprint at the branch office, thereby reducing operational overhead.
“Riverbed enables its customers to consolidate edge services at the branch office, helping organizations to reduce the IT footprint in the branch, simplify IT management and reduce costs while still delivering LAN-like application performance to distributed employees,” said Venugopal Pai, vice president of global alliances at Riverbed.  “By running McAfee Web Gateway security on the RSP, enterprises experience these benefits along with the ability to proactively protect themselves against the threats that attack systems via social media and other Web 2.0 applications.”
By scanning a Web page’s active content, McAfee Web Gateway security emulates and understands the behavior and uses predictive modeling to proactively protect against zero-day and targeted attacks as they occur. The McAfee and Riverbed partnership provides Web experiences to the organization to be more:
•             Productive-- This solution provides control over how and where Web applications are used.
•             Secure-- Scans outbound requests and posts along with all inbound traffic.
•             Efficient-- Improves application performance and reduces bandwidth congestion.
