3D enabled Tegra 2 chip in the pipeline for Nvidia?


Nvidia is all set to announce a new Tegra 2 3D chipset in the near future, if sources are to be believed. The new technology will unleash a new era of 3D-enabled handhelds- smartphones and netbooks.

The new updated version of Tegra 2 will be specifically targeted for mobile devices with 3D displays. The chip is expected to b unveiled in February, during a company presentation at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, trusted sources informed.

According to sources, a leaked slide obtained from Nvidia's MWC presentation says that the 3D-focused chip will be based on a dual core ARM Cortex A9 processor with a speed up to 1.2GHz. The rumored device Tegra 2.5’s manufacturing is expected to begin before end of March and to be released soon after.

Nvidia's current version of the Tegra 2 has features like a dual core ARM Cortex A9 with a speed up to 1 GHz, the device was announced in January 2010.
